Led Watches

Led watches have become, over time, something that people wear every day. If you are looking to purchase one there are many things you might like to take into consideration. Firstly you need to think about your budget, how much do you want to spend? Are you willing to pay a little bit more for extra quality of materials and reliability? Or are you just after an inexpensive watch to just tell the time?

There are numerous types of watches. Analogue watches are ones that have hands, sometimes they have a hand for the seconds and sometimes they do not. Digital watches will display the time in numbers, these are the most popular type and they come in many different forms.

A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) displays the time in numerals by passing a current from the battery through the liquid crystal to display the numbers. These have been around for approximately thirty years now, and in the years since their popularity has increased many times. As you can tell the time on them by giving the display a quick glance, and the fact that they can be very cheap, they are well-liked by many people.

Whereas an LCD watch displays the numbers in black and white, usually black numerals on a white background, LED watches uses a Light Emitting Diode placed behind the display that lights up at the push of a button to show you the time clearly and brightly. LED watches have steadily grown in popularity and are often most popular amongst children. Tag watches are fashionable and also come in many forms, including LED.

To keep very accurate time many watches use a quartz crystal. When a current is passed through the crystal it vibrates at a constant frequency, this is more accurate than mechanical components.

Many of the watches on the market today, especially digital watches, will be water resistant.  This gives the advantage that if you happen to get caught in the rain, forget to take your watch off when you get in the shower, or by other accidental means, the watch is going to be protected from the moisture that may leak into it. They achieve this by have a small rubber seal running around the edge of the watch, just inside the back cover. For this reason, when the battery needs replacing on a water resistant watch it is best to get it done through either a jeweller or an expert in this field to ensure that when they replace the back cover, they also ensure the rubber seal is in the correct place.

Straps on watches come in many different types of materials and designs. Some are metal but if this irritates your skin your can also get plastic or fabric ones.
