TAG Watches

There are some things in life which feel like a dream for example, obtaining membership to a club which is frequented by Steve McQueen and Barack Obama, finding the perfect lifetime partner and… owning a TAG Heuer watch.

It was over a century and a half ago in a quaint mountainous Switzerland town that Edouard Heuer starting creating these timepieces.   In fact, oscillating pinions are still used by many contemporary watchmakers today who fit them into mechanical watches.  TAG Heuer is also the brains behind the first stopwatch which had accuracy to 1/100th of a second.

The TAG Heuer range of watches is internationally renowned especially within the sporting world.  Wristwatches are accurate to 1/1000th of a second and stopwatches to 1/10,000th of a second

Seafarers, astronauts, pilots and golfers are just a few of the people who rely and trust a Tag Heuer watch.  In fact, it was a Heuer timepiece which was trusted enough to be sent into space back in 1962.  In 1985, Heuer merged with Techniques d’Avant Garde (hence the name TAG Heuer) and were introduced to the world of racing. It was Tag Heuer who sponsored the skiing world championships and the Formula One Grand Prix.  Thanks to them, many athletes have made their way into the record books.

Tag Heuer has always maintained a long standing relationship with the film world.  During the 1960’s the invention of a TV Film-Master stopwatch allowed directors to record footage with unique time precision.  From that day onwards, screen actors such as Matt Damon have been seen on the big screen wearing a Tag Heuer timepiece. The glitz doesn’t end there as Brad Pitt and Uma Thurman are ambassadors for the brand.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the models:

The Aquaracer meets the demands of professional water sports such as competitive swimming as it features both split-time and time elapsed chronograph functions.  This watch has a water resistance to at least 300m.    The Aquagraph is perfect for professional divers.  It boasts an automatic helium valve and is water resistant to 500m.  Women favour the Aquaracer Quartz which has a dial set with mother-of-pearl and diamonds and a water resistance of 300m.

For golfers, the Tag Heuer Golf watch comes equipped with top-quality quartz, a silicon bracelet and ergonomic design to stop any interference during a swing.  This watch was designed with the legendary Tiger Woods for striking performance and the prestige which follows.

For car fanatics, the Grand Carrera’s innovative designed is influenced by the fast-paced world of motor racing.  This watch started out in 1964 as the Carrera.  However, its redesign in 2007 gave it the new and regal title of Grand Carrera.  The watch hands echo the design of a dashboard in a sports car.  In 2008, further improvements and another name change produced the award winning Grand Carrera Calibre.  This timepiece has recently achieved the Sports watch of the Year award and the 2009 Red Dot Design award.

If you are looking for a watch which represents status and stature then a Tag heuer watch will certainly be this year’s hot ticket of the season.  Worn since 1991 by Barack Obama, this is watch for people who ‘mean to be seen’. Even General Eisenhower purchased a TAG Heuer watch in 1945.

One thing is for sure, a person who wears a Tag Heuer watch is someone who demands performance, prestige and precision of the highest standards.

Tag Heuer – Swiss avant-garde at its finest since 1860.
